Yay!
When do you leave?
This weekend is Doors Open Winnipeg, in which I most definitely recommend you partake if you like architecture and history. I would recommend the Granite Curling Club, Red Road Lodge, the Mint, and the Legislative.
Places I’d go hang out:
Places I’d go eat:
$ - Biryani House (excellent value, tasty), Shawarma Time (nice folks, quick food; get it spicy!), Parlour Coffee (best coffee in the city, by far)
$$ - Yuki Sushi (decent, cheap sushi in a divey Main St. bar; can’t beat the vibe), Pasta al forno at Pop Soda’s (such a cute place!)
$$$$ - Segovia (go with friends!)
edit/ I just read you need gluten-free. Lorenzo’s specializes in gluten-free groceries. Others can be found here http://www.manitobaceliac.com/local-resources-2/where-to-shop/ and there’s also a list of celiac-friendly restaurants, http://www.manitobaceliac.com/local-resources-2/restaurants-winnipeg/. Pop Soda’s, which I mentioned, has gluten-free options for pasta and bread.
If you can get outside the city:
There’s so much more! Have fun!

Things i’m learning from canada:
Sweet tea isn’t normal
Hot sauce isn’t hot (unless in asian eatery)
Saying “ya’ll” elicits giggles
People are actually physically active here.
Wal-mart actually closes
Processed cheese is labeled as processed cheese on menus.
I love canadaaaa @0@
